Monster Salmon at a trolling competition on Freddi Flutter

Nynashamn (SE). “Nynäs Laxen” is one of Sweden's most traditional trolling competitions. After the Corona break, the restart was brave and a little arduous, but gave the participants magnificent catches. The team Tunga Påslag landed a 1.18 meter long salmon on a Freddi Flutter Rhino spoon in the color Pink Flush. A fish which was estimated to weigh around 19 kilograms, the most heavy one of the entire competition. In Sweden all wild salmon, those with natural adipose fin, are to be released, so only their lengths are recorded here.

Organizer David da Silva was happy to welcome 20 boats and is sure that this event will attract significantly more participants again next year. Nynäshamn is about 60 kilometers south of Stockholm and usually offers the best conditions for salmon trolling in the second half of May, before the salmon from the Baltic Sea move further north. David da Silva: "I am glad that our long-term sponsor, Rhino-Trolling, remained loyal to us even during these difficult times"

Team Finkel won the team ranking with four fish landed over the two days of the competition, ahead of Eliot Almqvist with his teammate and Team Nordsjö.
Eliot Almqvist was also the one who, with a specimen weighing 12.5 kilograms, was able to weigh in the largest farmed salmon, recognizable by its cut adipose fin.

After the award ceremony, the Tunga Påslag team remembers their huge catch: “We tuned the Freddi Flutter spoon, which we received with the starting set, a little bit on the water, so that it fluttered optimally at our somewhat faster trolling speed of 2.5 to 2.8 knots. With a lead in front we offered the spoon in the water until the huge bite came. The fight lasted a full 20 minutes until we finally had the monster salmon happily on board. "
