It couldn't be more extreme: The new Catextreme Big Cat 105

Tostedt. Rarely has a test phase for a fishing reel lasted so long. Details were repeatedly improved until the series could finally go into production. Stefan Seuß, Black Cat Brand Manager and the main field tester, is enthusiastic: "Here we have created a masterpiece that is second to none in the world of catfish fishing!" The huge line capacity of 400 meters of a 0.55mm mono line requires maximum resilience of all components. Pressures that weigh on such a large reel during hard fights leave no room for weak points. With this huge amount of line, all varieties of catfish fishing are completely covered. In fact, the reel is designed for buoy and bottom fishing.

For the first time, Black Cat uses an infinite anti reverse on this extremely large reel. This was previously impossible because the high rotor forces that occurred were simply too great for conventional infinite anti reverse systems. Now, Black Cat engineers have managed to create an infinite anti reverse that has passed all tests with no problems. As an additional backup, the Catextreme also has a rotor locking system, which, like the anti reverse in the gearbox, is constantly activated. With this system, a metal locking lever snaps into one of the many locking pins built directly into the rotor wall. Double security for the angler!

The beast achieves an unbelievable 27 kilograms of breaking pressure, thanks to five carbon fibre drag discs in a disc pack under the pressure plate of the ergo friendly, large drag knob. With such breaking pressure, a complete spool lock, as is often desired by catfish anglers, is of course easily possible. The powerhouse of this reel is of course its gearing. Stefan very consciously opted for a gear ratio of 4.2:1. This enables the best possible engagement of the gear teeth combined with still good line retrieval and smooth running. Higher ratios require more teeth on the gear and thus the contact surface of the teeth is reduced. The forces that occur are distributed over smaller contact surfaces and could therefore lead to damage and failure. The high-quality precision ball bearings are installed completely free of play in the robust torsion-free Dur aluminum housing, which protects the drive wheels against damage, even with very high crank pressures that occur in extreme situations. Uncompromising and reliable, that is the claim of the Black Cat Catextreme Big Cat!

The Black Cat Catextreme Big Cat will be available in retail shops from the end of June. The suggested retail price is 199.95 resp. £179.99
