Rhino Team 7th in Helsinki-Trolling Masters

Helsinki. 30 degrees, low wind and bright sunshine; not exactly typical for salmon fishing but most welcome for the protagonists taking part. The conditions were the backdrop for this year's Trolling Masters, which took place in Helsinki at the start of July. 109 boat teams entered, landing 66 magnificent Baltic salmon and 16 sea trout over three days. The largest salmon weighed in at 15.7 kg (Pentti Salminen) while the largest sea trout tipped the scales at 5.9 kg (Tom Collanus). Team Tervonen took the overall victory with seven salmon and a total weight of over 45 kg, followed by Team Jaala and Team Welax 3. The winning team hauled in twice as much salmon as the runners-up. Just four salmon over 10 kilos were landed overall. And of all the boats entered, just 48 landed fish eligible for the weigh-in.

The Rhino Trolling Team "Beluga", skippered by Germany's Mike Luner and featuring Finnish team-mates Pekka Heija and Jani Rantanten, finished 7th in the individual and boat-team rankings (http://www.beluga-fishing.de/beluga-news.htm). As you might expect, the team's lures of choice were Rhino Trolling Spoons.

The event was once again of the highest standard in terms of international trolling competitions, with a supporting programme including sales and hospitality tents, perfect organisation, refrigerated lorries, crushed ice, filleting and shrink-wrapping stations and high-quality non-cash prizes.
The Finnish capital is a comfortable trip from Travemünde or Rostock by ferry and using your own boat. And those who place more value on enjoying a unique trolling experience than filling the chest freezer should undoubtedly take part in Helsinki.
