Looking for the perfect pull?

Side puller systems have now become almost standard fitment to poles, and there are now a number of different designs aimed at making the elastic run smoothly through the sharp 90 degree angle needed for the elastic to emerge from the side of the section. Harbour entrances: this is THE time for large perch!

Tostedt. The perch in our large rivers love to spend the winter in adjacent harbours. There is a time when the fish migrate from their summer lairs in the river to their winter hideaways. This time is normally between late autumn and the onset of winter. On their journey, the prickly predators normally have a brief stopover in the harbour entrances. Those on the water at this time can enjoy some spectacular sport. I have been fortunate to experience this a number of times over the last two weeks. Old-timer poles in action!

Tostedt. Leading pole manufacturer Browning invited guests to a quite special fishing competition in October. Owners of models of Browning pole that were at least 10 years old were eligible to register for the Warhorse Match in England. The popular Tunnel Barn Farm fishery (www.tunnelbarnfarm.co.uk, near Birmingham) was selected as the venue for 40 owners of classic Browning poles to proudly display their “old faithfuls”.
